Thakurdeo Rampersaud - Member of the National Golden Key Society

Thakurdeo Rampersaud is a member of the National Golden Key Society from his days at the City University of New York, where he graduated with a degree in Accounting with Honors. Mr. Rampersaud went on to become the Director of Finance for Hyatt Vacation Ownership, where he develops financial recording and reporting initiatives that keep the company on track to continue offering excellent services to all of its customers around the world. The Golden Key Society helps its members achieve success in academia and beyond with its three main branches of involvement and services for college students around the world:

  • Academics. The Golden Key Society recognizes students such as Thakurdeo Rampersaud when he was in college for their commitment to academics. Undergraduates are recognized for being in the top 15% of their class. This recognition and inclusion forms a network of high-achieving college students who can connect with each other.
  • Leadership. Golden Key members are presented with opportunities to learn and develop their leadership skills through programs on the national, local, and regional levels. Thakurdeo Rampersaud took advantage of leadership opportunities whenever he could.
  • Service. Service learning in the community is at the centerpiece of what the Golden Key Society does for young academic achievers around the United States. Local chapters organize service activities and projects that benefit the community and create a positive impact on the neighborhoods they serve.
Thakurdeo Rampersaud has used his membership in the Golden Key Society to create opportunities for himself in his career. He wouldn’t have risen to a leadership position in Hyatt Vacation Ownership without the connections he forged as a member of the Golden Key Society. Mr. Rampersaud continues to contribute to the scholarship funding initiatives directed by the Golden Key to this day.

Thakurdeo Rampersaud - Working Well with the Hyatt Residence Club

Thakurdeo Rampersaud is the Director of Finance for Hyatt Vacation Ownership, a subsidiary of Interval Leisure Group that offers customers excellent timeshare opportunities in prime locations around the world. Part of Mr. Rampersaud’s job is to ensure that the Hyatt Residence Club, another subset of the organization, can add valuable properties to its list of locations around the world for its members and customers. He ensures that all financial records are up to date and all regulations are being complied with. The Hyatt Residence Club came out of the Hyatt Vacation Club, an early iteration of the valuable timeshare deals that Hyatt began offering customers in 1994.

Over the years, the Hyatt Residence Club started opening high-end residences around the world. One of the most famous and decorated properties is the Hyatt Ka’anapali Beach in Maui, which won the 2015 American Circle of Excellence Domestic Project of Excellence Award. Thakurdeo Rampersaud helped make new properties and further expansion possible with his accounting and financial skills.

Thakurdeo Rampersaud - Becoming a Successful CPA

Thakurdeo Rampersaud is a Certified Public Accountant who was born to Indian immigrants in Brooklyn, New York. He wanted to use his natural skills with numbers and finances to start a career in his new country. Mr. Rampersaud earned his certification as an accountant and quickly started to rise in his professional station. While he attended Stetson University in Florida in pursuit of his Master’s degree in Business Administration, he worked his way up to a Senior Accountant position with a local business. He moved on to become a Senior Financial Analyst and eventually Accounting Manager.  After he graduated from Stetson, he worked hard and rose to become the Director of Finance at Hyatt Vacation Ownership, Inc., a position he holds today.

Thakurdeo Rampersaud completed his educational and experiential requirements to become a CPA at the same time. He wanted to rise in his career and make up for lost time. All CPAs are required to spend 150 semester hours learning accounting practices and work as accountants for two years before they can sit for the CPA exams. When it came time for Thakurdeo Rampersaud to take part one of his CPA exam, he wasn’t nervous. He knew the ethics and the methods for proper accounting in line with federal and state regulations. He passed all four parts of his exam with flying colors. The rest is history.

Thakurdeo Rampersaud hopes to continue to provide financial solutions and top-notch accounting help to his employers at Hyatt Vacation Ownership. He also uses his position of power to help his community as much as possible by offering his services to local charities and organizations.

Thakurdeo Rampersaud is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) who has over 15 years of experience in finance and accounting.  Thakurdeo has had many roles in his career as an Accountant from Staff Accountant to Accounting Manager and eventually Director of Finance for Hyatt Vacation Ownership. As the Director of Finance, Mr. Rampersaud develops accounting procedures that allow the company to stay abreast of its ever-changing financial situation. He ensures that budget dollars are spent properly and that all accounting information is up-to-date and relevant. Mr. Rampersaud oversees the financial operations of the large corporation.   • Complete 150 hours of classroom instruction. Most CPAs complete this requirement for all CPAs in their undergraduate or graduate studies. Some schools have programs that allow students to combine their graduate and undergraduate studies into one program specifically for CPAs.
  • Gain experience. Thakurdeo Rampersaud worked as an accountant for two years before he was eligible to take the series of CPA exams. This is the standard practice in almost all states in the United States. Many recent graduates interested in becoming CPAs take low-level positions that are relatively easy to obtain to satisfy this requirement.
  • Pass the exams. To be a CPA, Thakurdeo Rampersaud had to pass four exams prepared by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. These exams test aspiring CPAs on complex accounting subjects like attestation and financial reporting.
