- Complete 150 hours of classroom instruction. Most CPAs complete this requirement for all CPAs in their undergraduate or graduate studies. Some schools have programs that allow students to combine their graduate and undergraduate studies into one program specifically for CPAs.
- Gain experience. Thakurdeo Rampersaud worked as an accountant for two years before he was eligible to take the series of CPA exams. This is the standard practice in almost all states in the United States. Many recent graduates interested in becoming CPAs take low-level positions that are relatively easy to obtain to satisfy this requirement.
